The Swan 411 is a rugged and fast 41 foot boat. With modest tumblehome and a sleek profile, these yachts represent some of the best of classic Sparksman & Stephens design. Maniac has crossed the Atlantic several times (1st in her class in 2004 ARC and 3rd overall), been raced in the Antigua Sailing Week several times and cruised extensively throughout the Caribbean. She is well laid out and comfortable, but, above all else, she has been meticulously maintained and upgraded. Beautiful teak decks, a large cockpit with a functional bridge deck aft of the companion way hatch which allows for easy access to winches, lines and cleats. An equally beautiful and functional interior completes the package. Maniac has been under the same ownership for 17 years and reflects a passion for excellence and precision seldom found in other yachts. A stunning example of attention to detail, Maniac stands ready for her next adventure. The owner has decided it is time for a larger yacht and as such has reluctantly put Maniac on the market—a great opportunity for a discerning buyer.

The layout offers up to nine berths—with a double berth to port and a single to starboard in the aft cabin, 2 x pilot berths and 2 x settee berths in the saloon, and a recently added V-berth in the fo’c’sle. There is full standing headroom throughout. Moving forward from the aft cabin into the saloon, there is a hanging locker followed by the navigation station to starboard with the galley to port; the companion way ladder separates these two areas. The navigation station is straight forward and simple with a new electrical distribution panel and the necessary electronics to link all Ray Marine E-7 series functions to an i-Pad connection. The L-shaped galley consists of a s/s sink with hot and cold pressurized water and a salt water foot pump, a 2 burner Force-10 propane cooker with oven and grill, and a Alder/Barbour Refrigerator with ice compartment. Moving forward, the Saloon has a settee port and starboard with a folding table in the center and small pilot berths port and starboard above the settees. Forward of the Saloon, there is a hanging locker to port and the head to starboard. The head consists of a wash basin with pressurized hot and cold water, a hand held shower, an automatic sump pump, and a Raritan PH-11 head which has recently been totally re-plumbed. Forward of this area is the fo’c’sle with ample storage, the V-berth, and a large access hatch.
Located under the companionway ladder in the saloon is the Nanni, turbo charged, 63 hp diesel engine. This engine was newly installed in 2006, has been serviced annually and has only 290 hours on it. Freshwater cooled via heat exchanger, the shaft drive extends from the integrated transmission to a 3-blade, 21” Maxi-prop. This combination affords Maniac a cruising range of some 180 to 210 miles at 6 kts. The exhaust system was replaced in 2006, the MV-2 Morse engine controls rebuilt in 2010.
Masthead sloop rigged. Anodised aluminium mast (serviced 2012) with carbon fibre boom (fitted 2009). Stainless steel (dyform) standing rigging, running rigging replaced 2012 with dyneema where applicable. Harken/North headsail furling system. Selden/Harken carbon fibre spinnaker pole 2004; ABI Quick release leaver on babystay; Navtec hydraulic backstay and boom vang replaced 2009 (pump assembly rebuilt 2010); Harken mainsheet traveller system.
Constructed of GRP by Nautor Yachts, Finland in 1978, Maniac went through a major refit in the UK in 1996-‘97 including removing, inspecting and re-installation of the keel, re-galvanizing the keel plates and lifting eye, replacement of the teak deck and installation of a s/s mast step. The hull was stripped in 2005, inspected and left to dry for 12 months prior to the application of a preventative underwater hull epoxy; antifouling was last applied in January 2014. In 2010 the forehatch, windows and main hatch (Goiot) were replaced. In 2012 the toe-rail was completely replaced and the hull was re-sprayed with Awlgrip ‘Flag Bleu’.
Maniac has an UK - SSR registration. She is “VAT Paid” and has no known encumbrances.
