These sailboats were built by Capital Yachts Corp beginning in 1971 and ending in 1996 when the company closed up shop. The naval Architects, Gary Mull & Cuthertson and Cassian (C&C) saw a real need for a quality line of sailboats with hand laid hulls and decks, lead keels, heavy duty rigging and hardware and interior designs for extended blue water sailing at a low fair market price thus, the 28' Newport was developed.
The Newport 28' boat is a sloop that performs very well in light air, even with little sail up. Her light displacement, rounded hull, low profile cabin, sleek lines makes this boat quite tender but gives surprising interior room and 6'2" standing room in the salon.
This is a perfect racer/cruiser, weekender coastal type of boat that can be singlehanded without any problem and balances well with a smaller headsail and full mainsail.

Starting forward is a large V berth that sleeps two in comfort. Aft to port is the head with a marine toilet, sink and pressurized water. There is a holding tank with deck pump out. Across from the head is a large hanging locker and additional storage. A privacy door separates the forward cabin from the main salon. The salon is quite spacious for a boat this size.
The double leaf table folds up and stores on the bulkhead when not in use. The port settee pulls out to make a double berth and the settee across sleeps one. The Galley is aft to starboard and a quarter-berth is aft to port and sleeps one comfortably. Behind the companionway stairs is access to the engine compartment.
