This Southerly 28 is one of the last 28s to be built. It is a spacious lift keel cruiser with single steering position that is offered for sale in good condition. It offers 5 berths in two cabins. It is being offered for sale with a good range of instruments, generator as well as diesel cabin heating. Her Bukh 20HP engine was fully reconditioned in 2005 (last serviced March 2016) and she was epoxied in 2003 as a preventative measure. She was last out of the water in June 2015 when she was antifouled, anodes changed. The Southerly 28 is an ideal yacht for cruising the East Coast. She is well worth an early viewing.

The Southerly 28 offers 5 berths in 2 cabins with 6'3" maximum headroom. The forward cabin offers a V berth with infill to make into a double berth forward.
The Saloon has a large dining table to port with C-shaped seating and table which can be slid up the mast step pole to underside of the deck. There is an infill that goes under the salon table when raised to make into a double berth.
There is a linear galley to starboard with Plastimo two burner cooker with oven and grill and stainless steel sink with cold pressurised water, 12v Fridge (new 2003), crockery and cutlery. Aft of the galley is a large chart table with navigation seat, instrumentation and access to the aft quarter berth.
The Heads is aft of the saloon and to port with Jabsco marine toilet, wash basin with cold water tap. The boat has blue upholstery with carpets and curtains. The boat has a cosy feel which is enhanced by the Mikuni MY30 diesel cabin heating system.
The companionway steps led up to a large, well-protected cockpit with two good sized lockers. An additional helms seat has been fitted to the pushpit.
Masthead Bermudan sloop with deck stepped aluminium Sparlight mast and aluminium Z-Spar boom. Stainless steel rigging (replaced 2006), with Terylene running rigging (replaced as require). Semi-battened slab reefing Mainsail with lazyjacks with Z-Spars furling Genoa.
This Southerly 28 has a Bukh, two cylinder, 20hp diesel engine located under companionway steps and cockpit floor with easy access. The engine was fully reconditioned by French Marine in 2005. Last serviced March 2016. New started motor was fitted in 2013 and a new exhaust was fitted in 2013. It has a shaft drive via P-bracket to a three blade fixed propeller. Fresh water cooled. Single lever Morse controls on steering pedestal. 75 litre plastic fuel tank – new 2005.
3 x 12 volt batteries (1x engine + 2 x domestic) charging from alternator and battery charger. 240v shore power system with ring main and battery charger. There is also a Paris Rhone 14V 50amp generator fitted. Clipper BM-1 battery monitor with Sterling Power Management System.
Lifting cast iron keel.
This was the last Southerly 28 built by Northshore in 1983 and launched in 1984. . White GRP hull and decks with moulded-in non-slip surfaces. Cast iron deep lifting fin keel. Wheel steering to transom hung rudder. Stainless steel stanchions, pulpit and pushpit quarters. Walk through transom gate. Last out of the water in June 2015. October 2008 survey report available upon request plus a list of work that has been completed over the years.
