A stunning performance catamaran that was extensively and tastefully refit in 2014-2015, FORCE is now for sale. A real thoroughbred constructed exclusively from high-tech materials: glass/kevlar and epoxy resins over core cell foam. She was well ahead of her time in both design and construction which allows her today to keep up with her peers in class - the Gunboat 60s and 62s - and to easily outrun the Catana 59s, 65s and Outremer 5Xs with their wide-body hulls. Consider her key dimensions: 65 foot waterline, 32 foot beam, 18 tons, 85 foot mast, 9 foot dagger-boards, 3 foot bridgedeck clearance and 2000 sq foot sail area: it all spells grace, power, and swift passage offshore.
Her owner, a passionate fan of distinctive yachts, has restored her beautifully and configured her to be sailed short-handed and even single handed. He recorded several days over 250 miles sailing single-handed between Bermuda and the Caribbean last fall.
The recent refit was comprehensive: the interior was gutted and new systems, new plumbing, new wiring and electronics installed. The highlights are new twin 75 HP Yanmar engines with 11/4" shafts (she motors at 8 to 11 kts), new water-maker, new appliances. The new galley and salon feature hand-crafted mahogany joinery. On deck, the twin helm stations and deck hardware were entirely reconfigured to allow simplified handling from the port helm station. The rig and standing rigging are all new 2012.

Laid up in female molds using epoxy resin, triaxial and biaxial cloth with high-density PVC core. Kevlar is used in the bows for added impact resistance. All outside surfaces are painted with Imron or equivalent. The result is an extremely strong, lightweight construction needed in a performance multi hull.
b) Structural Bulkhead
The main structural bulkhead is a truss type bulkhead using clean fir and end grain balsa in a fiberglass sandwich construction. Other bulkheads are high density PVC core.
c) Mast Step
The mast is stepped in a special fitting concentrating the compression loads to the center of the mast extrusion.
d) Engine Beds
Engine beds are fiberglass foam filled to reduce noise and vibration. Beds are taped and glassed in position to ensure a rigid foundation.
The daggerboard foil section was selected to provide optimum lift. The boards and cases are laid up using molds to ensure exact dimensions. The boards are unidirectional fiberglass and foam cored with a stringer system. The result is extremely strong and lightweight boards that operate efficiently
f) Rudder and Rudder Stock
The rudder is a carefully selected foil shape and is molded from fiberglass and filled with PVC foam. An alloy space frame is welded to the 2 ½” stainless steel shaft passing through bearings provided by Harken International.
a) General Construction
The deck and deck house are hand laid up in female molds with a laminate of epoxy resin, triaxial and biaxial fiberglass with a high-density PVC core. The laminate provides an extremely strong and stiff structure with excellent insulation properties. All surfaces are painted and non-skid coated in traffic areas.
b) Deck Equipment
Stanchions of stainless steel with double lifelines are provided and all fittings and fastenings are of the highest marine standard. Two trampolines are provided forward of the wing deck.
c) Hatches and Opening Ports
Hatches were provided by Lewmar Marine and include: 10 ea. 19” sq. trimline hatches and 2 ea. 24” sq. trimline hatches. Bomar Marine provided Port lights and there are 10 x 15” long rectangular ports. All ports and hatches have removable screens. Inspection hatches are in all watertight bulkheads.
d) Fixed Windows
The fixed windows in the deck house are smoke tinted acrylic and are fitted into molded recesses from the inside, providing an excellent seal which is serviceable and presents a sleek outside finish.
e) Sliding Door
The main cabin in entered through a sliding glass door of mahogany construction which slides into a pocket in the cabin bulkhead when open.
Anti-fouling: As the epoxy used to laminate the hulls provides an excellent moisture barrier, it is only necessary to paint with an antifouling of the customer’s choice.

The mast, boom and bow tubes are custom made by Sparcraft Marine Products. The mast is white painted anodized aluminum with double spreaders and ¾” wire rigging.

Harken track and batten car system is used on the mast and boom. Bow compression tubes and all fittings are custom made and include anchor roller, foil-shaped full striker and deck fittings.
Harken International provided all the blocks and track systems and winches.
