OTTER features a custom Hard Top, preferred CAT 375 engines (2,470 hrs), Westerbeke Generator (700 hrs), (5) new Batteries (August 2016), roomier V-Berth layout, Ultrasuede Salon, teak & holly sole, Cold Plate Refrigeration, New AC (installed 4/2017), St. Croix Davits, Dinghy & Outboard. Since purchasing in 2008, OTTER's knowledgeable owners have overseen upgrades and additions of equipment and systems: Added custom-designed & fabricated substantial hardtop and with full enclosure, Garmin GPS (2010), new helmdeck and exterior upholstery (2016), replaced all head piping, connectors & ducting (2016), renewed exterior varnish each year, and maintained the unblemished Flag Blue Awlgrip. Every winter, OTTER has been inside-stored.
Completed Spring 2017:
Fall, 2016, the port engine was found to have had a long-term water leak in one of the exhaust systems, allowing cooling water to enter the outboard aft cylinder and cause corrosion and pitting. A new ‘long block’ was installed over the winter (comprising cylinder block, crankshaft, pistons, cylinder head, injectors, oil cooler and valve gear). Apart from the external accessories and fuel system this is essentially a new engine. During this work, the turbocharger was also replaced as well as both exhaust manifolds.
This work carries a six month warranty, with unlimited hours, on both parts and labor.
Following completion of the work, the CAT dealer performing the above pressure tested the cooling system and the vessel was sea-trialed. Starboard engine oil samples were normal. Both engines ran correctly with the correct operating temperature and full RPM.
At the same time the A/C system was completely replaced with a new MarineAir system comprising 12,000 BTU compressor, evaporator and ‘SmartTouch’ keypad control.
