The most recent Hatteras 55 Convertible (an earlier 55 Convertible from Hatteras was produced during the 1980s) is an updated version of the Hatteras 54 Convertible (1991–98) with a restyled superstructure and flybridge, and a revised hull bottom with prop pockets. She’s a rakish yacht with her low-profile appearance and huge cockpit, and she was among the most popular boats in her class for several years. The standard three-stateroom floorplan (with a low-profile galley and salon dinette) is identical to the older 54, but the cockpit was redesigned with a transom fish box in place of the two in-deck units of the 54. Another upgrade is found on the massive flybridge where Hatteras engineers added a retractable electronics panel in the helm console. Note that a bridge overhang shades the forward cockpit area. A good sea boat built to the high standards normally associated with a Hatteras product.
