The Tradewind 25 is designed by John Rock, the original American design was based on a steel vessel with a hydraulic lifting keel. Now moulded in GRP with a fixed keel and retaining her multi-chine hull form giving her a very solid appearance. This is an extremely well built and practical heavy displacement gaff rigged cutter. The hull was epoxy coated before launch with Gel Protect SFE 2000.
The deck layup is a sandwich construction. Extremely wide decks with excellent antislip surfaces make manovering around the decks very easy and safe.
Yanmar 2GM 20Hp diesel inboard engine serial number 25791. Last serviced September 2015. Shaft drive with Vetus Bullflex coupling to 3 blade fixed propeller. All voyages and engine hours have been recorded and logged.
3 x 90ah batteries which are only 5 years old, and are charged either by wind, solar, engine or by the permanent battery charger when connected to shore power.
Gaff rig sail plan with both headsails having roller furling making setting sail extremely easy. Slab reefed main sail with deck stepped mast. Stainless steel standing rigging and terylene running rigging. She has an extensive sail wardrobe all of which are in very good condition. Solid varnished wooden spars and bow sprit.
The layout of "Caryta" has a spacious traditional feel to her. The forward cabin has a large comfortable double berth with stowage lockers. The heads to starboard is pristine with a round stainless sink, a brand new sea toilet and plenty of cupboard space, all finished in wood. Opposite is the built in fridge and cool box. Through into the galley and saloon. The galley is well equipped with a Flavel Wayfarer gas oven with grill and 2 burner hob. Plenty of draw and cupboard space and extra work space is provided by a small drop down platform. A solid mahogany drop down table in the saloon with comfortable seating all adds to the traditional feel. Shelving and cupboard space is provided behind the settee. A further 2 person settee aft of the galley provides plenty of seating. Navigation table to port with a Simrad VHF, Nasa echo sounder and log/speed and a Garmin GPS. Throughout the woodwork and finishing touches, like the brass port light, make her a comfortable, unique boat.
From the companion steps, with engine under, you step into a spacious, well protected cockpit. All the necessary navigation equipment is repeated out here with a Lowrance 5150 chart plotter. Easy accesses to the fuel tanks, which have sample drains, and the gas locker. Plenty of stowage for lines. The attention to detail and the quality of the woodwork is continued to the outside. All rigging is practically placed and easily accessible. Wide decks and antislip surfaces make her easy to manage.
