The Doughdish is a fiberglass reproduction of the original Herreshoff 12 1/2 footer. It is constructed in foam sandwich fiberglass with teak trim. It is built to the exact hull dimensions and rig of the sloops designed by N. G. Herreshoff in 1914. As a result they are able to compete against the wooden boats in class races and regattas.
It is a comfortable and easy daysailer, and a wonderful boat for teaching someone to sail.
Doughdish No. 500 was built by Edey and Duff of Mattapoisett, MA in 2005. BA ZING has been sailed little and all in fresh water. She is in great structural condition and the sale includes: good sails, covers in “like new” condition and a custom Triad trailer.
Unfortunately, BA ZING looks as though her teak trim hasn't been varnished since launching. While this isn't ideal, the limited amount of varnish will make removal and re-finishing much easier.
Doughdish 500 is an excellent opportunity to purchase a great boat at a discounted price. With a little work, BA ZING can look nearly new again.
She is currently in storage at Ballentine's Boat Shop on Cape Cod and can be view by appointment only. Contact us for more information.
