The Island Packet 370 represents the combined talents of the engineering, design, sales, and marketing staffs at Island Packet, coupled with the constructive and enlightened feedback of our enthusiastic owners and dealers. Marking a notable evolution in the Island Packet family, the 370 offers refined keel shapes and a higher aspect ratio rig for increased performance, new rudder shaft and blade geometry for enhanced control under sail and power, and a watertight anchor locker bulkhead for added security. The accommodations also shine, with the ever popular island berth both fore and aft, a separate shower stall in the head, and an optional Plus Package that boasts a solid, bevel planked teak and oak sole, premium Corian countertops in the galley and head, and furniture quality satin finish varnish on all interior wood surfaces.
As you approach Mango III you will note the high level of shine to both the hull, deck and all of the bright work providing an insight to the high level of maintenance.
When boarding her you will note the wide side decks clear of any obstacles. The deck edge has high bulwarks and full double lifelines with custom bow gates and pulpits providing for a very secure feeling when working forward. At the bow you will find dual anchor rollers with anchors ready for instant deployment along with an electric windlass making retrieval a simple task from the bow or cockpit with remote switch. All (3) sails are roller furling making single handling a simple task with the staysail on a Hoyt boom providing better sail trim.
Walking aft you will note the stainless steel dorados with matching stainless steel dorade guards. There is also a one-piece stainless steel grab rail running the full length of the coach roof.
The cockpit is quite large with a dodger with side and aft stainless steel grab rails, bimini and connecting panel. To provide protection from inclement weather a full custom enclosure has been made . Once seated in the cockpit you will note that the seating is long enough to stretch out on for an afternoon nap. As for cockpit storage there are 2 large cockpit lockers and numerous combing lockers both open and covered proving for the storage of all outside gear. At the helm you will find the Raymarine E-80 radar/chart plotter, a Richie compass and the controls for the windlass, bow thruster and Raymarine autopilot control. Engine instrumentation is located on the port side of the cockpit along with a momentary battery crossover switch. The pedestal is rounded out with a beautifully finished teak folding cockpit table and folding wheel (all is protected by its own cover. Knot, wind, and depth instrumentation is mounted above the companionway for easy view from anywhere in the cockpit.
Entering the 370 is done through a wide comfortable companionway and down 4 deep easy steps. You're are greated with a very open, airy yacht feeling much larger than her size. Perfect for an evening retreat or gracious entertaining. Your first thought is,a large open salon but no table. However, you have several choices the main salon features an extremely versatile dining table that stows against a bulkhead bottle rack when not in use. When in the open position it may be used as a half width or full width table depending on the number of guests. To add even greater flexibility for entertaining Mango III has a small removable table with a lift-out post that can be used on either side of the salon. The full length port and starboard settees are both comfortable and practical. Both may double as sea berths and the port settee converts to a double berth. There is more than adequate storage available both under as well as outboard of the settees. The settee cushions are covered in a light shade of pumpkin colored “Ultra Leather” for ease of care and durability. The color is a great contrast with the team interior as well as the solid teak and maple sole creating a warm but comfortable appearance. To port above the settee are a set of louvered doors that hide away the electric panels both 120V and 12V. At the forward end to starboard is a large hanging locker with louvered door.
From the salon looking aft and to starboard one will find a large, well-equipped U-shaped galley. Again this area is not closed in and provides for a very open feeling with easy access to the salon and cockpit and plenty of natural ventilation. To help with your cooking there is a 3 burner “Force 10” propane stove and oven with broiler. For those quick warm ups there is a built in microwave and the cold food storage is handled with a large top loading refrigerator and freezer with a “frigoboat” keel cool unit to provide the cooling. You have lots of counter space with plenty of food, utensil, and cookware storage above and below the counters. As for clean-up you have a deep, double bowl stainless steel sink and a slide out trash receptacle.
Looking to port is the doorway to the aft cabin. This space has been utilized in a very interesting way. When first entering this cabin you will see a nav area/dressing table. This space provides plenty of space for electronics and other navigation equipment as well as a dressing table when occupied by overnight guests and with the push of a button out comes the seat. The bulkhead to the right side of the table has a large opening with panels to close off when used for sleeping. With this arrangement it provides a view and communication between the salon and chart table and a more open feeling to both the salon and aft cabin/nav station. Just aft of the table is a large dressing locker having removable shelves for use as a hanging or shelved locker. Aft and inboard is a double island berth that is set on an angle to create access to the berth from both sides. The end of the berth hinges up with the aid of pneumatic struts providing large easy access to storage below.
Moving forward through the salon on the port side is the door to the head. The head has two door access providing access from the salon as a common entrance and a door from the owner’s cabin to provide for a private entrance. The head is quite large complete with a stall shower with a molded in seat, marine head with 50 gallon holding tank and vanity with Corian counter top, stainless steel sink and storage above and below. The colors are light with teak trim and natural ventilation is provided by an opening stainless steel port and overhead hatch.
Going forward is the owner’s cabin. This cabin is dominated by a large island berth. AS in the aft cabin, the end of the berth lifts on pneumatic struts giving access to a large storage area below. Below this there is also a large cedar lined drawer. With cedar lined cabinets to both port and starboard the owner’s cabin has more than adequate storage.
The interior of this yacht has a bright airy feeling created by the use of a light colored headliner and hull side wall material. Natural light and ventilation is provided by 11 opening ports and 5 overhead hatches. Teak is used throughout the boat adding that traditional look and feel. The reverse cycle heat pump is ducted into each cabin providing both heating and cooling.
This boat has been extremely well maintained, upgraded and kept in “Bristol” condition and ready for many years of use.
