My comments are not intended to be a commercial for Hunter. I've sold and built thousands of boats different boats other than Hunters since I started in the yacht business. I think often sailors form opinions that are dated, inaccurate and lack current facts.
I've sailed thousands of miles on a Hunter and the more time I spend on one, the more I appreciate their evolution. When Hunter first arrived on the scene they built a decent inexpensive boat.
Through the years, Hunter got better and better. Many of the premier yacht builder of yesteryear are faded memories, yet Hunter has established itself as one of the best production boats anywhere. I attribute this rise in quality and performance to two factors. First, Glenn Henderson took over designing Hunters. His designs blend fast comfortable, sea kindly performance with extremely well thought out accommodations. Second, the people building and running Hunter take pride in their craftsmanship and committed to building a quality boat.
Hunter Sailboats are without a doubt one of the easiest boats to sail. The 7/8th B&R rig provides a small easy to handle jib with a larger main. The jib on this boat is virtually self tacking and the roller furling main allows for easy reefing. The end boom sheeting of the main sheet means extra leverage and trimming the main can usually be done by hand. With all the line lead into the cockpit, the captain doesn't need to leave the cockpit nor does he/she need a crew.
If you are considering a Beneteau, Jeanneau, Catalina or, Baveria, you owe it to yourself to take a closer look at this Hunter 36. Hunter has come a long way and this Hunter 36 is a perfect example.
An entertainment-sized salon is center to her lavish interior and is flanked by two private staterooms. The full service galley boasts genuine Corian countertops with custom teak fiddling, a double-bowl stainless sink, two-burner LPG stove, and even a microwave as standard equipment. It's even complete down to the dinnerware! Further aft to port, a separate head and shower await you with comfort and spaciousness.
Would you believe six and a half foot of headroom?
Lastly, the master stateroom is full-beam and features a queen-size athwartships berth and plenty of storage in cedar-lined hanging lockers. This interior rivals that of much larger boats and is finished to the level of semi-custom yachts.
Privacy, storage and comfort your friends may never want to leave! Abundant natural light and good ventilation in the forward stateroom will please everyone. An innovative slatted opening in the bulkhead allows for a more roomy feel when the guests are gone. The hanging lockers are cedar-lined, and standard reading lights make devouring that novel a breeze.
