Built by Churchouse Boats this is an up to date revision of the original Drascombe Drifter which ceased production in 1986. She has twin swing keels which allow for a shallow draft, easy launch and recovery, a large clear self-draining cockpit and comfortable cabin for 2. The loose footed gunter yawl rig makes rigging her easy and sail management flexible. She moves with ease in light airs and stiffens up nicely when the wind picks up being both fun and reassuring to sail.
Vessel is stored ashore on her trailer. As a result viewings are by prior arrangement only. To make an appointment, please call 0191 272 9086.
Constructed in GRP with deep blue hull and cream deck and coach-roof. The wooden rubbing strake, wooden spars and tan sails give what is a thoroughly modern boat a traditional feel.
Twin swing keels, each weighing 65kg, snuggle neatly into the cockpit lockers keeping the cockpit and saloon clear. Keels and drop plate rudder up she floats in 16" of water allowing all but the shallowest of creeks to be explored.
Wee Dram is powered by a 2010 Yamaha 8hp outboard engine driving a high thrust 3 bladed propeller. The engine was last serviced in 2015.
A single 12 volt battery provides power for lighting and instruments and is charged via the outboard. There is a shore power connection for use on serviced jetties.
The Drifter has a gunter yawl rig with pine spars and bow-sprit. The main mast is mounted in a tabernacle and can be raised and lowered single handed. Standing rigging is of stainless steel. The loose footed mainsail has slab reefing while the jib has roller furling. The tan sails are all in good condition.
The sail plan allows for great flexibility in changeable wind conditions and the sails are easily managed when sailing single or short handed.
The cabin provides basic but comfortable accommodation for 2 with either 2 generous single berths or one large double berth. To port of the companionway is a galley unit in which there is a single burner gas hob, a stainless steel sink with manually pumped cold water and storage space. In the cabin there is also a chemical toilet.
This boat is well equipped for lake or coastal cruising and her inventory includes:
