Offshore racing yacht CYD3308 has been designed by Giovanni Ceccarelli, the lead designer for the +39 America's Cup challenge team. A narrow hull form with adequately located centre of gravity ensures excellent performance when sailing upwinds. Owing to her exceptionally light and rigid hull structure (500kg with deck) she offers high seaworthiness, allowing starting in ORC GP 33 class racings replacing the old three quarters Ton IOR. The yacht shows a self-steering properties and is perfectly balanced. Thanks to her good directional stability she enables safe sailing with spinnaker, even in high seas and squall winds. Yacht's hull has been manufactured from SP cored composites of highest quality. Carbon fibre reinforcements has been impregnated with epoxy resin and Airex core material was used to get a sandwich structure. The entire outer surface is finished with Nautix yacht paint system. A lead cast bulb is supported on a fin made from high strength steel type Weldox 700. Its shape was tested and optimized with CFD (Computer Fluid Dynamic) software to achieve a minimum drag at lowered centre of gravity. Boat outfitting items are selected from products of renowned manufacturers. A carbon stock and blade rudder is mounted in JP3 bearings. Mast and standard rigging made by King Composite in Argentina. Kevlar sails designed by Juan Garay of North Sails, Argentina, collaborating earlier with with +39 AC Challenge tem. Deck layout is racing oriented. Wide and shallow cockpit ensures easy movement of the crew. All the deck hardware is provided by Harken and Spinlock. The cabin is designed around the rule with the minimum volume. There are four berths inside/ The boat can attend ORC/IRC racings both inshore and offshore.
