Own a 15% share of a late 2015 Leopard 51 Power Catamaran in Dubai for US$ 125k.
One of this syndicate’s owners initially bought this Catamaran for his personal use, but having found how well the fractional ownership of his Mediterranean based Princess worked, he invited his Mallorca syndicate shipmates and others to join him in part ownership of his Leopard 51. Owners have now gladly bought into this catamaran; it being operated on the same Fractional Association management basis, as their successful Mallorca syndicate is.
A few remaining shares are now open to new members. The current fair open market valuation value of the vessel proportionally equates to circa $125,000 per 15% of equity. The owners a looking for entrants to be committed & responsible members of the syndicate and are therefore looking for a minimum holding 15%, but are happy to offer a larger share if desired.
The annual maintenance contribution per share is circa US$ 10k p.a. for each 15% share of ownership, to cover the mooring fees, all crew, cleaning and laundry costs and other general maintenance. (Any further expenditure for infrequent exceptional items such as equipment upgrades will always require prior approval by a majority vote from the respective shareholders).
Over time and with much experience these syndicate owners have learned that this fast growing collaborative consumption concept, which was introduced many years ago for private jet syndicates, works equally as well for yachts. They find it to be a very cost effective way of enjoying their boating, without the heavy financial burden, or the time-consuming management issues normally associated with outright ownership.
They all communicate through the Fractional Association’s dedicated yacht management website, for which each owner has a unique log-in. It is used to exchange general experiences as well as thoughts and preferences on our owners’ forum and to advance order on board provisions or book any crew that may be required. A key function of the site is to also select each owner’s desired time on board. To make that selection process fair all round, the Fractional Association have built an algorithm into the calendar rota, which re-sets the order of selection, thus giving each owner a fair choice.
