Security and Comfort on Deck
From the integral bow platform to the new stern area, the 465's deck abounds with features owners will appreciate. Exclusive Island Packet designed and patented SeaSafe® anchor rollers provide fully captive, low chafe guides for chain and rode for quick anchor deployment and secure stowage. A foredeck hatch provides access to a large chain locker separated from the interior by a watertight bulkhead, while an aft deck hatch opens to a spacious lazarette. A recessed foredeck with bulwarks, uncluttered sidedecks, and full length cabin top handrails provide safe footing and security on deck. The Cetol finished teak trim and cap rails impart an elegant look while easy to clean exterior surfaces, modern materials technology, and side deck drains scuppered to the boot stripe help minimize maintenance.
The broad transom platform with integrally molded steps and concealed swim ladder makes this a gracious entryway or lounging area.
An ergonomically designed cockpit provides comfortable seating either underway or socializing at anchor. The geared direct drive steering system, proven through millions of miles of all types of cruising, provides sensitive and responsive control with rugged reliability and a minimum of maintenance. Navigational electronics, including knot meter, depth sounder, and a wind indicator, are located in the integrally molded companionway pod for easy viewing from the cockpit. Additional space for electronics is provided in the wheel pedestal. Four harness padeyes, cockpit accessible sail control lines with line bins, and a seat locker all combine for cruising practicality.
Renowned Comfort and Liveability
Entering the interior on comfortably angled companionway steps, one will be immediately impressed by the expansive main salon with over seven feet of headroom and sweeping panoramic views through an array of large windows. Full length settees port and starboard invite socializing and gracious entertaining when the salon table is stowed against the forward bulkhead, and help create a large and comfortable dining area when the table is deployed. This hallmark Island Packet feature conceals a hidden bottle and glass storage rack in the up position, yet easily folds down and opens up for serving a crowd. The port settee extends toward the centerline to make into a double berth, and a smaller, removable table is available with a lift-out post for mounting at either side of the salon for occasional use. A large hanging locker with extra height rods outboard is also designed to accommodate a dealer/owner installed washer/dryer unit. Overhead recessed lights and numerous well placed halogen reading lamps throughout are activated with dimmer switches for adjustable lighting levels.
Select teak hardwoods and veneers are used for interior bulkheads, cabinetry, trim, and cabin doors. Extensive radius corner detailing, cedar-lined lockers and drawers, and solid teak and oak bevel-edge soles add elegance to the staterooms and main salon. Furniture quality satin gloss varnish finish is applied to all interior wood surfaces in a multi-coat process. The heads, nav station, galley and companionway area have slip resistant molded soles. Premium designer fabrics and surfaces harmonize and compliment the luxurious interior throughout.
Delux Navigation Center
Adjacent to the companionway in it's own spacious alcove, this area features a high backed swivel armchair, an inlaid chart table with storage tray, and cabinetry space sufficient to mount a wide variety of dealer/owner installed equipment. A hinged storage area aft of the seat neatly stows charts and all master electrical panels for shipboard A-C and D-C equipment are within easy reach. A hanging locker suitable for wet gear is also provided adjacent to the companionway.
The galley has a wide, open layout with room to move about comfortably, and opening ports on either side to keep it light and airy. The separate refrigerator and freezer compartments, with digitally controlled cooling units, are equipped with double gasketed drop-front lids on gas strut supports for easy access. A pull-out refrigerated drawer is also included for quick access to popular beverages and foods. All the conveniences one has come to expect from Island Packet are also provided, including built-in dish racks and cutlery drawers, deep double sinks, sliding trash bin, microwave, and abundant cabinet and locker storage. Further enhancements include Acrylic counter surfaces with integral sea rails, a Force 10® LPG range with broiler, and a water purifying system serving all interior cold water sink taps. The attractive and practical design of this exemplary galley will make it a pleasure to use.
Entering the owner's stateroom aft, one is welcomed by the wide double island berth surrounded by a solid teak and oak sole, and an array of cabinets, lockers, drawers and shelves. Extra-height rods are provided outboard in the hanging locker for longer items, and a plush dressing seat and a vanity mirror and drawer just forward of the berth add extra convenience. A door in the aft bulkhead provides interior access to the lazarette storage. Numerous opening ports, a large central overhead hatch with screen and shade and two Dorade vents make these owner's quarters particularly bright and freshly ventilated.
The ensuite aft head, as well as the forward head, features a vanity with an acrylic countertop, separate shower stall with folding acrylic door and molded seat, and a standard VacuFlush electric flush head with a curved backrest for secure and comfortable seating.
The forward guest stateroom features private access to the adjacent head, a large double island berth, and an array of lockers, cabinets, drawers, and shelves suitable for extended stays on board. As in the owner's stateroom aft, the berth top hinges on gas support struts to reveal a blanket tray underneath. Several ports and an overhead hatch provide ample light and ventilation.
A Versatile and Easily Handled Rig
The generous cutter sailplan, coupled with the convenience of all major control lines led aft to the cockpit, delivers spirited, safe, and easy cruising for short handed watches or large family outings. Roller furling systems on all sails add convenience, while the patented Hoyt Boom equipped staysail adds considerable performance and provides superb adaptability to a wide range of sailing conditions. The 465 is the only yacht in her class to offer this self-tacking, self-vanging staysail.
