Beneteau 35s5. Built 1991 in Marion SC. Bought new in Spring 1992 from St. Bart’s Yachts in Wilmington and North Myrtle Beach. Originally a racing boat with full complement of sails (150 % genoa, 120 % furling genoa, spinnaker, and battened main). The furling jib and main have been recently replaced and have had very little usage. Raced her gallantly and well for 5 or 6 years. At that time she had a 6 ½ foot fin keel and would eat the eye out of the wind, but because of occasionally running aground in the swallow waters in the area, I replaced keel with a 4 ft shallow draft, wing keel. Amazing how much smoother she sails in rough weather, but killed it as a racing boat! Would do it all over again, however as she is a wonderful cruising boat for this area. Have taken it on many trips to Lookout Bight and Beaufort NC, Baldhead Island and Charleston, SC, both inside and outside. Has a 27 hp Volvo Penta diesel which has been serviced regularly never had any problems, all the gear needed for serious racing, Raymarine depth and speedometer, autohelm, wind speed and direction and GPS, all 4 mounted on the instrument panels beach side of entrance way in the cockpit and in good condition (fairly new). Gimbaled propane oven and range in main cabin as well as water heater, 250 gal fresh water tanks, working refrigerator, running hot and cold water, fresh water shower in head, sleeps 6 comfortably in forward, mid and aft cabins. Beautiful teakwork! Basically new Clarion AM/FM CD stereo, and VHF radio. All Coast Guard required gear (life jackets, MOB horseshoe and ring lifebuoy, MOB pole, etc). Fair amount of teak but not overwhelming in cockpit.
This highly prized performance cruiser is designed by Philippe Starck. Two private staterooms and two settee berths provide sleeping accommodations for six. This racer/cruiser is in very good condition and would be ideal for club racing or family fun.
