Custom Enhancements

Much thought was put into making this a light boat for superior performance - including specifying a mast, bow sprit and boom, all built in carbon.

The mast is a beautifully finished carbon fiber rotating wing section developed for Corsair by carbon spar specialist Omohundro. It is two feet, six inches taller than the standard F-31 mast, yet the rig overall is 65 pounds lighter. It is thus even easier to handle than the standard F-31 mast, and with less weight aloft it gives the boat an easier motion, even in chop.

The sail plan is simple and efficient with a square-top mainsail, and a custom carbon boom, attached to the cabin top. This allows very precise control of the mainsail camber. To safely handle the main sail, a micro battcar system was added. This results in the fast dropping of the main sail which actually needs to be slowed down with a loop around the winch.

Additionally there is a long traveler that allows for the ability to control the opening of the sail when needed on a broad reach. Ultra fast reefing can be done safely from the cockpit. The mainsheet can always be released with Harken’s trigger cleat - while a finger clutch on the boom automatically locks the reefing line. 

A blade jib, an asymmetric spinnaker (with a sock), and a screecher round out the sail wardrobe. Flown from the end of a seven-foot bow sprit, the roller furling screecher is one of the most powerful and versatile sails in the inventory and can be used to windward in light airs instead of a genoa.

Interior moldings and equipment have been kept to a minimum to save weight, to boost sailing performance. Nevertheless, the cabin is spacious with standing headroom. A forward V-berth, plus mid cabin singles convert to a very large double bunk in the main cabin. A marine head with holding tank rounds out the interior.

At the end of the day, an electrical Torqueedo motor facilitates docking.
