Built in Hatteras’ new Swansboro, North Carolina, facility, the 60 will be the builder’s first to offer a completely resin-infused hull, rather than traditional hand-laid fiberglass construction. Resin infusion produces a more uniform hull structure with a superior glass-to-resin ratio, resulting in higher strength, lower weight, and a more precise fit of bulkheads, stringers, and other structural components. As an environment-friendly side benefit, the process virtually eliminates noxious styrene emissions associated with hand-laid fiberglass construction.
To take the rigors of offshore tournament action, the 60’s bottom is a solid-glass laminate, while her hull sides, decks, and superstructure are cored with PVC foam that yields greater stiffness and strength with less weight. She features a variable-deadrise hull form; convex bow sections will ensure a soft ride in heavy seas, while relatively flat aft sections will offer an efficient lifting surface with minimum drag. Double chines along the full length of the hull work in conjunction with exaggerated bow flare to knock down spray, while longitudinal running strakes provide increased stability and improved tracking. Large eight-blade propellers are tucked into deep tunnels at the stern for maximum efficiency, minimum vibration, and reduced draft.
Standard accommodations include a three-stateroom, two-head layout featuring a port-side master with forpeak VIP arrangement, but other options abound. One variation includes crisscrossed single berths in place of the centerline berth in the forward stateroom, while another version adds a third head to the standard three-stateroom layout. There’s even a four-stateroom, three-head version featuring a forward VIP, two smaller guest staterooms along the starboard side, and a reconfigured master on the port side.
For hardcore fishermen, the Hatteras 60 is also available in a 60GT Tournament Edition. This three-stateroom, two-head version includes a custom hull color, wraparound windshield, and twin 1,800-hp engines that should boost top speed to better than 40 knots.

Manufacturer Provided Description
With 1,550-hp Caterpillar C-30 engines, the Hatteras 60 Convertible now cruises at 34 knots and tops out at over 37. The primary design change appears in the aft keel area where deep, finely tuned tunnels have allowed Hatteras engineers to reduce the shaft angle and increase thrust tremendously. A byproduct of the tunnels is a drastically reduced draft. With the optional enclosed flybridge, the 60 Convertible floats in 5'1" of water with an enclosed bridge and 4'11" when equipped with the standard open flybridge. The tunnels have also enhanced the 60's close-quarters handling, due to the pure propulsion of water directly onto the stainless-steel rudders. The cockpit comes with bait and tackle centers accessed via toe kicks, as is the double-wide freezer. An 80-inch fish box with mascerator pump is located in the cockpit sole, and a second fish box integrated into the transom can be plumbed as an optional livewell. With no exposed handles or hardware to catch fingers or chamois, this cockpit will keep the crew happy, as will the insulated drink storage in the cockpit steps and hidden quick-connect washdown connections. For the ultimate in fishing and cruising comfort, opt for the completely redesigned enclosed flybridge, with or without a circular staircase leading to the salon. This spacious compartment features a Tracy helm chair and two forward-facing riding seats. An L-shaped lounge is elevated for excellent visibility and includes rod storage underneath. A wet bar with refrigerator and icemaker makes entertaining easy, and a central vacuum eases the cleaning burden. The standard interior arrangement on the 60 Convertible calls for three staterooms and three heads. The master stateroom is a beam-width compartment complete with queen-sized berth, cedar-lined storage underneath, entertainment center, twin nightstands, his-and-her hanging lockers and several additional storage compartments for extended cruising.
