The Amel shipyard in La Rochelle is known for building reliable blue water cruisers. Back in the 1970s, Henri Amel already did not understand why ocean sailing had to be humid, uncomfortable and exhausting. This conviction combined with his vast experience at sea resulted in a blueprint for serious, solid and low-maintenance ocean sailing boats like the Kirk.
