Sachem is a custom built Downeaster built on a Weber's Cove hull, completed in 1988 by the well known Portland Boat Works in Portland Ct. She has been meticulously maintained for the last two decades at Mystic River Marina. She was stored inside during the winter receiving maintenance on varnish, paint, mechanical - whatever was required. She is powered by a pair of Volvo TAMD 61D diesels connected to Twin Disc transmissions and is equipped with an Onan diesel generator. Sachem is ideal for a cruising couple or anyone that wants to cruise up and down the coast, do the loop and much more! Sachem handles the sea well and is economical to run and has ample storage throughout.
Some of the upgrades over the years include a Vacuflush head system, custom leather furniture (the leather sofa pulls out into a bed). A custom-built ice chest and liquor cabinet has been added in the Salon. Sachem is equipped with a Sea Gull water filter. Both fuel tanks have been replaced with new custom-made aluminum epoxy coated tanks. The electronics have all been recently updated - she is equipped with two Standard Horizon VHF radios, three Garmin chart plotters, two Garmin radars a Simrad auto pilot and a hailer. Sachem is also equipped with three air conditioning units.
The V berth is spacious and comfortable with more than enough storage.
Sitting on the top deck is a custom-built dinghy that is built for sailing or rowing, and has extra flotation and lifelines. There is a davit on deck for launching the dinghy.
The Portuguese bridge is a very unique feature of Sachem! She is a one-of-a-kind luxury yacht that must be seen to appreciate the custom built hand craftmanship!!
